Burnished Gold Eagle Mintages

In 2006, the United States Mint introduced a new collectible version of the American Gold Eagle. These coins were struck on specially burnished blanks and included the "W" mint mark. Some collectors refer to these coins as "Burnished Gold Eagles" and others refer to them as "collectible Uncirculated Gold Eagles."

The Burnished Gold Eagles have been offered for sale in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Each year the US Mint has sold each fractional denominational individually, as well as a complete 4 Coin Set. Some collectors have began to focus on these coins because of their low minages in comparison to the proof and bullion versions of the coin.

After a two year gap, the US Mint resumed the offering of burnished Gold Eagles in 2011.
